transformer iso split, noiseless?

I'm wondering if you have a transformer isolated split do you have to worry about noise (hum)? I think I know that answer to that but does having a good transformer isolated split mean you don't need ground lifts? (Always lifted)

thanks

The reason you use a transformer isolated splitter is to get rid of any potential hum that may occur when you connect two different systems together. Remember, the grounds must be attached to the primary (direct) side of the transformer. Some transformer splits don't have the grounds attached to the secondary (isolated) side of the transformer. I believe you should have ground lifts on the secondary side. Every no and then you need to ground the isolated side. Sometimes only one channel may need that ground. It's strange but true...

I hope this helped.

Steve,

Thanks alot! Thats more light shed on this. So this snake I'm looking at that has no ground lifts (all open)... What do you think? Should I think about getting it and getting lifts put onto one side or the other? Are you saying the direct side would be more useful or important?
