Talking audience mics

what are you using for audience mics (that is, mics used to pick up the audience: typical application would b 1 or 2 mics placed on each side of the stage, pointer at the audience)?

I am currently using AKG 460/ck8 shotgun pair.

Things working well here with AT4073 shotguns, usually supplemented by one or more pairs of 4053 hypers.

Finding quite a lot of use for fig-8s further back in the room as well. Depends on the layout though.

i've used shotguns, but lately have been using my Shure KSM141s...though
often hung from the ceiling (indoor venue) over the audience.

i must say, in omni setting, it's not the most omni mic i've ever heard. rather,
a very wide cardiod. it works pretty well though. quieter than my old
earthworks omnis.

hope that helps,
marty.

When I'm not using spot shotgun mics I love to use my DC96Bs for audience capture.

I've also used TLM103s at the end of long cable runs.

Depends on the venue, but I use shotguns on stage to aim at the audience, together with some cardiods. If its a big venue, I like some omnis at the FOH position, and maybe even some behind that. Led Zeppelin in the O2Arena was at least 32 audience mics! Last March did a gig in a stadium with 21 audience mics, sounded awesome!!
