Question Incubus look alive dvd - BVs vocal mics pointing upwards

Any practical reason for doing this? My first thought was eliminating bleed from backline and monitors for recording purposes ?

Incubus' BV mics were pointed like this here in Honolulu when I saw them a few months back.

Could be cool if someone knows why they have them like that.

Does anyone have a picture of the singing into them?

here's a clip from Jimmy Kimmel - you can see both BV mics are pointing upwards - maybe it is justa practical solution to make it easy to see the fretboard...

damn... embed doesn't work

I bet they do this to minimize the cymbal bleed.

What do you folks think?

Yes, I feel the same way...

They have a unique sound that I would love to capture.

Maybe they have the monitors cranked up extremely loud and pointed up would give the least amount of stage volume into the mic.
Not really a huge incubus fan...but definitely very unique.

Based only on the Kimmel video clip (provided above) everyone seems to be wearing "in-ears" and there are no floor wedges that I can see...

But, you never know what the real story is until you hear it from their engineer or PM.

That's why I guessed cymbal leakage and stuff.
