Sad, but hardly to be unexpected. I saw an article about Cadac a few years ago where they explained the importance of making live sound consoles for theatre as small as possible as the lost seat revenue could amount to tens of thousands over the run of a show. Of course with the latest digital gear it is possible to reduce this even further, potentially with the right digital set-up the show could be controlled via a laptop and a LAN link, it doesn't get much smaller than that! Having stated this as the "be all and end all" of show production you would have thought they would have moved into digital a long time ago. Regards Roland |
