I would use spaced omnis at around 17-20cm spacing.

Where you put them will depend on your ears.

Ger the pianist to play and move around and listen carefully - where it sounds best to your ears, put the mics there.

40m2 is pretty small and you may be surprised where the mics end up. I receorded a 9' Steinway once, in a small room, and the best place for the mics was not where I initially expected - so listen carefully and move around until you find the sweet spot.
