Hi there, I'm looking at buying an outboard reverb because for bigger shows I'm going to be using my Mackie Onyx which doesn't have any reverb/FX. What would you recommend for a really nice sounding reverb or reverb/multiFX for someone on a budget? The most I could spend is around $250 but I would prefer to spend less. I also don't have an outboard compressor, is that something can really help live sound - the way having a compressor on the 2-buss of a mix can? If so, I could consider spending more... Excuse my ignorance, I've mostly done studio stuff. |

t.c. electronics m-one xl is pretty good, although you would have to find a used one for that price

I picked up a Lexicon MPX 550 for just over $200 used locally... they go for $200-225 on Ebay... to my ears its WAY better than D-verb plugins... the trailing off of the reverb sounds more natural. It has S/PDIF so I can avoid a conversion step my my protools rig - of course also has TRS as well.... I didn't research... there may be a bunch of better $200 used boxes to choose from... but I'm happy. |

I'd try to find a used Lexicon MPX 550 or Kurzweil Rumour.

Used Lexicon LXP-1, although I did find an MPX-1 under your budget once and that's very nice. Edwin |

the used LXP-1 has a really great sound once you exercise the scratchy pots... I also have a couple of early 1/2 rack Sonys that sound amazing for how little they cost! |

| Without a doubt, best bang for the buck effects processor is the Kurzweil Rumour!! We have two Rumours and a Mangler in "The Bread Mobile." We love them and the guest engineers that come through cannot believe the quality of the sound from this economical FX device.

I have a Kurweil Rumour and a TC M-1. The Rumour is better.

| I've got to check one of these out. Seems like a lot of people like them.

I was just wondering, but he initially mentioned a budget of $250. Can Rumours actually be found for this? I see on ebay them selling for $300-$400. I was really interested but that's a little more than I was hoping. Hardware reverb is not especially high on my list of stuff to buy but I have been looking... Also the Lexicon LXP-1 was mentioned, can anyone give specifics? I happen to have found one accidentally very cheap so I am interested in knowing more about it, like what its strengths are and such. |

IMO, the LXP1 is a pretty noisy device.
