Question Direct Out Connectors on the ATI Paragon II... Pre or Post Fader???

Hey Everyone,

I'm recording at the SummerStage NYC music festival tomorrow and I need to know what the connectors are (XLR or TRS) for the Direct Outs on the ATI Paragon II. I also need to know if they are pre or post fader. Please Help!!!!

The channel direct out can be switched pre or post fader using a switch on the strip but the actual point from which the feed is taken in each case may be chosen via internal jumpers on the PCB. The 'Pre' Out default is set to be Post filter but can be changed to be Post EQ and Insert. The 'Post' Out setting defaults to Post Fader but may be selected to Post VCA. There's also some further options to do with where exactly the 'Fader' signal comes from.

You could assume that the console will be as default setup but it'd be a good idea to ask whoever is supplying it, just in case they've set it up differently.

It's actually a stereo output with a dual concentric stereo level/pan control which may be switched to be dual mono (i.e. two independent mono feeds from the channel, with the level/pan control becoming two independent mono level controls when in mono mode).

The Direct outs are on two electronically balanced TRS (3 Pole) 1/4" jacks - one for each side of the stereo (balanced L and balanced R) or two balanced monos - depending upon the switch selection.

The Paragon II manuals, brochure, etc. may still be downloaded from HERE

Who's playing the Summer Stage tomorrow? Is it already that time again?

Good luck-
If it's the company I think, that desk has seen some serious mileage.
But the preamps and EQ sounds good. Make sure you are not recording the dynamics path unless you want it!

Jim, I totally feel you with regard to your comments above.

So, how did your recording work out?
Was it a pleasant experience?

Thank You!

Thanks everybody for your informative responses. The gig went well. It was the Israel Day Celebration and I took the Post Fader route (pre dynamics). What a beautiful day, I think it was 80 degrees without a cloud in the sky!
