Question Microphone repair/service - NW England

If anyone can forward to me the contact details of a good microphone repairman in the North West of England I'd much appreciate it (or anywhere in the UK, as long as they're OK posting stuff). I've a problem with an Oktava MK012, bought in a matched pair, that an assistant dropped after a show. Now one sounds thicker, like you've got a bung in your ear. I need it fixed!

Any recommendations MUCH appreciated - esp. anyone that can perform a Dorsey/style mod, as that's something I was looking at doing anyway (my fingers don't work well enough to do that kind of fiddly work) and I guess may fix the problem on its own.

Just as additional information, it's definitely the preamp body - the problem is present with each of the 3 types of cap (and the caps work fine on the other body).

Many thanks in advance!

I would always send mics back to the manufacturer or their local agent - always the best bet.

They were bought in Germany from a Russian manufacturer . . . . is there a good dealer in the UK that can deal with this kind of repair?

I would talk to HHB in London in the first instance. If they can't do it, they would know who could.

But as they are a matched pair they may both have to go back to Russia (or cut your losses and get a new pair).
