Question What Happened To The Old Saturday Night Live Band?

What happened to the old SNL band from the 80's and early 90's? They were awesome!!! Why did they get replaced and where are they now?

Their beats clearly weren't fat enough.

They decide ( the producer ) that they need to change the sound of the show
a couple of years ago, so the change the MD to get another sound , but i do find that band, who's been there for about 10 years, as good as the other band in the past,
All the SNL band were great............

of course the current band is made up of great players .....but the original band of the 70`s was made up of legends ..... sound definers ! Hardly fair to ask the new batch to measure up to ....let`s see if I can remember .... ?
Richard Tee ,Eric Gale ,Steve Gadd , Steve Jordan , ...wasn`t "Stuff " an offshoot of SNL ? ....Howard Johnson,Lou Marini also played proud ...among others .

Lenny Pickett has a real unique sound and Alex Foster is grossly underused as a second sax ... Alex is one of the baddest tenors of anyone these days . But IMHO the fine younger rhythm section cats in the current band just can`t be compared to the sound and flavor of that early band .
alas......TV is different now

I've heard that if they hire any new musicians they are looking at 30 years and younger.

I don't know if you are asking about GE Smith, etc, but he's been playing with Moon
Alice, among other projects.
