I'm trying to put together a remote recording rig, and I wonder if anyone has experience with the Rosetta and Firewire card. Specifically, I would like, in addition to 8 channels into a laptop over firewire, a backup system to a CD recorder. I'm considering the firemix software from apoggee to route a mix digitally to the CD recorder, but am worried that if the computer goes down, so goes the routing. I could route the analog ins in the apoggee directly to the analog outs with the front buttons, then get a small mixer to make a 2-mix. I'm not sure what would happen with a computer crash, but assume the Rosetta would continue to function. Lastly, I could make passive y-cables from the preamps (8 channels of outboard), and then submix that. Any ideas, thanks Dave. |
