Question Sonic Sense

Does anyone have any experience with buying from Sonic Sense. Are they a good company?

If you are buying over the Internet with a credit card you are covered. You just let the credit card company that there is a failure to perform and they reverse the entry and you return the goods, if you have them. That is what has worked for me.

Other than that, I have not heard anything bad about Sonic Sense.

I have purchased from them several times in the past. They are legitimate and they deliver the product you purchase. Whether they are 'Good' or not is debateable - that all depends on your definition of the word. I was not unhappy with the service I received, however.

Are you saying you had an issue with a purchase you made from Sonic Sense and you were forced to request a chargeback?

No, I have not had any issue with SS. I was speaking in general terms about a different supplier. And this was the only time I had a problem. I have always, other than that once, had excellent serfvice on the Internet. And when you live in the country as I do, you shop that way a lot.

Thanks for asking so I could clear that up.

Cheers

Sonic Sense has been excellent for me on multiple occasions. They are my "go to" dealer when I need any of the products they sell.

I really like Sonic Sense. Marc Nutter is an old school taper guy and really embodies the best of that culture. He's gone on to do acoustic consulting for some very upscale clients, so he's got serious expertise in the use of his products from every level. I've gotten a lot of stuff over the years from them and have always gotten excellent service and prices.

My purchases from have included a Grace V3, RME Octa and Quadramic and monitor speakers aside from many DAT tapes back in the day.

No commercial interest, just a satisfied customer.

Sonic Sense was horrible for me

I put in a order for two items. I called first to find out if the items were in stock and I was assured they were. In fact, I was told they would be shipped within 48 hours. I expected a tracking number two days later. Nothing. Maybe it took an extra day. Nope.

Finally I called to find out if I could get a tracking number. "Oh we're out of stock. We'll have to drop-ship both from the manufacturer." I told them I would be at a particular address for only two more weeks. "No problem."

Problem. I had to call them back again in a week and a half to get the tracking number. They didn't bother sending it to me. I called and found out it was to be delivered after the date I said it couldn't be delivered. At this point I wrote the GM and the "owner" and was assured this was a freak occurrence. I had to harass them continually to get the shipping changed to a different address.

I expected some attention for the second part of my order. Same EXACT song and dance. Over a month after I ordered from them, I cancelled my order. Never received the second piece of gear. Unbelievably incompetent.

Hi Parametric,
I am truly sorry you had such a negative experience with Sonic Sense. As a live sound systems engineer and stagehand of many years, I fully understand the importance of getting what you need when you need it.

I certainly remember your specific situation despite the many thousands of satisfied customers we have every year, specifically because it is so rare to have a situation like this. I hope that our correspondence by phone and email, and sending a second unit by 2nd day service to another destination at your request, reduced the inconvenience it caused you.

When Sonic Sense formed in 1994, it was with the inspiration to provide truly great and caring service for our customers. Following my own bad experiences as a field recordist seeking equipment from other companies, I wanted to make sure we offer more knowledge and understanding of client needs than anyone else out there. Out of this came our company slogan, "Old School Service in a Modern Marketplace." We strive to meet this standard every day and will use this experience to continue to improve in the future.

Again, my sincere apology to you. The in-house credit we offered still stands should you decide to give us a shot again in the future.
I am confident your next experience will be what it should.

Sincerely,
Marc Nutter, VP
Sonic Sense
