I'd like to replace the ribbon cables in my D&R Dayner live console in touringpack. I can find the ribboncable at conrad.com but I am unable to locate the connectors. Any suggestions from this team? Could I re-use the existing connectors? Frans The Netherlands

I did. Duco (owner D&R) was on vacation. But he just replied. In the mean time I found a complet pile of D&R ribboncables wich came from a dismantled D&R Triton. When it comes here we can see if it will be a decent replacement or we will order one from D&R themselves. Thanks for your help. Muziekschuur |

Of curiosity, just wonder what kind of problems you have had with the desk making you replacing it. Have a Dayner myself. Hans

I had a faulty master. Some of the soldering was grey. So sometimes one side would sound less than HIFI. So we had to tick on the master. We lifted the master out (it's in a flightcase). When I put it back I damaged the ribboncord as it is quite inflexible (due age?). After that we soldered some but for a mobile unit that's not a solution. So I need to replace that ribboncable. |

I have been working on the masterunit myself. Took it out and found some burned (fuse 10 Ohms/100 Ohms) resistors, think it was two... To make a long story short it was one of the 5532's or 072 OPamps that was in a bad condition. It had some cracks on its surface. Replaced them all together with the "fuses". That made it. I'm thinking about the option to try some more modern OPamps in the master or on some of the channels..... Hans |

I started D&R consoles over at Yahoo groups. Some opamps are mentioned there... keep me posted about your whereabouts.... I am in the process of getting some additional parts and maybe restoring another Dayner. The mods you suggested will probably be performed aswell. Have fun and keep in touch. You can allways find me at TASCAM Forums Member Supported as I mod over there. Frans |

| Lives for gear | Update....
I was lucky. I found an D&R Ribbonset from a 42 channel Triton. We could use it to replace the current ribboncable with it. We found some stuff on our Dayner we could fix (like the little cables used on the bus channels (wich needs replacing due of age). Allso the ledmeter on ch. 17 needed fixing. It turned out to be a cold solderjoint. (damn you allmost can't see bad solders sometimes.... we tipped them for security) and after that it turned out to be indeed a cold solder joint). So at this point in time it's back on it's feet one 100%. Muziekschuur |
