Just wanted to let you hear an audio sample recorded with, DPA-4006 Crookwood "Original Paintpot" Korg MR-1000 (24bit 44.1khz > 16bit 44.1khz > MP3) Guitar on the right sounds a bit louder but this can be adjusted however I wanted to keep everything original. No EQ, No compressors i.e. no effects at all used. |

Sounds really nice ... Although (when listening on headphones), I would maybe welcome slightly bigger distance between the mics and the source. The guitars a bit too much "in your face" maybe ? But maybe not ...

Sounds really good! I agree with Ivo that if the hall would have allowed it a litte less close could have worked better... but I wasn't there and I guess you spent time comparing:-) Have you compared the different results recording in DSD->16/44.1 and 24/44.1->16/44.1 or was this your choice to stay in 44.1? thanks for posting Vincent |

Nice. I don't think it should be altered.

Yes I have to admit that i should have placed my mics a little further away. In almost all my recordings I made the last 3 months (15 concerts) I discovered that good monitoring is the most important step in the recording process and that I should make more time to organize this either by changing the way I monitor (headphones vs portable speakers) and get more time with the musicians prior to the concert. Main reasons that my late recordings might sound direct/close is due to the fact that the mics I used are omnies and the places I record are mostly having the first row of people very close to the stage i.e. I prefer to have a sound which sound a bit direct instead of recording a coffing or noisy audience. Before I was putting the mics to far away which resulted in a lack of attack, adding noise from the audience etc etc Anyway I am learning everyday, and people like you and Onno are a great inspiration and I am recording as much concerts as I can (almost all recordings I did for free cause in order to get experience). I would like to thank everybody for their comments on my recordings and to be honest I like the "Remote possibilities in acoustic music forum" a lot. It seems to be a small group of people with a great love for music. Next Monday night I will record a life concert of Marc Copland (Jazz )however I don't think he will let me post a file here anyway I will ask and hope it will work out. Keep you posted. Now get back to work you..... Gaston |

Gaston, you do fine work. I really admire your minimalist setup, and you use it to great effect. Of course, having Onno as a tutor certainly doesn't hurt! I'll be trying your "Onno Setup" next week for a simple piano accompanied vocal recital (in a nice room). I plan to chain my MK2 Schoeps with my ADL 600 into my MR1000. I'll use DSD, just because I can (LOL!). I'll let you know what I think after the recording. Thanks for your inspired postings!

Very cool sound, great 2 guitar arrangement and playing. In Spain sometimes "El Amor Brujo" is performed with a gypsy flamenco soprano, a unique combination in the classical world.

I listen to alot of classical guitar recordings, and yours sounds great. Very natural...excellent performance too! I think I'm going to invest in a MR1000 very soon, Thanks for posting that clip. So, you prefer recording at 44.1 compared to the 5.6ghz? Is it more of a hassle to record at the high sampling rate? John

I just ordered the remote control and expect soon to record a big orchestra with having the Paintpot right behind the conductor and to sit in another room for monitoring purposes (I had made a 30 meters AES cable). So my setup will be as follow: DPA 4060 or B&K 4006 > Paintpot with AD converter > Nagra LB Monitoring SPL Phonitor Headphone amp AKG K701 |
