Talking Recording in a church with 2 pairs of Schoeps

There is a beautiful church nearby with great acoustics (few CDs were already recorded there) and away from any traffic noise (on the hill). I plan to make some recording there very soon. I will be playing violin, viola, flutes etc. accompanied by various "spherical" instruments (tuned glass, zither, monochord, lute etc.) Basically we will be 2 or three musicians playing together.
I would like to use a "full power" recording chain:
Two pairs of Schoeps - MK21 + MK2 going to Millennia HV-3 and then to Lavry AD. I know that basically one has to try on the spot, but still I would like to hear a basic advice about good mics´starting positions. I thought to use MK21 in a kind of wide ORTF or NOS and MK2 omnis somewhere behind, far apart (AB) , as "ambience mics". And later I would mix both up to the taste. Is it a good idea ? Any suggestions as per the distance and position of these mics pairs (to get a nice inspiring sound and to avoid some phase problems etc.)

Thanks in advance for your advice

Now, here's a thread that got lost in the sauce...

No one replied when it was in it's former forum.

Maybe we can respond to this for future acoustic music recordists to see and learn?

Keep the ambient mics at a distance and you'll get a great recording. The MK21 will give you a nice precision and weight to complement the richness of the MK2 spaced pair. I'd love to hear a copy of the results.

Chris

that was in 2004, Chris. Though the reccomendation is still very pertinent and useful. !

Yeah, I got that. I'm really MORE curious what he ended up doing rather than offer any suggestions...
