Question What do the pros use for Recording Samples? Plus I need a more portable rig.

What do the pros use for Recording Samples?

you know, the people who do storm drum and such.
What are you using? (mics ect)

I record myself and am always looking for ways to improve how I do it.
At this point when I record hits of objects ect I use 4 mics at a time
2 room and two close mics at a location where it is dead quiet and then edit all the samples 4 tracks at a time.. Is this the way best way to to do it?
or is there a better or more simple way? I need top quality..

I also need to get a more portable setup so I can record on site and outside alot with my laptop.
any recommendations on which preamps/firewire interfaces/wind screens ect I should be looking at?
