Question 1 Project, 2 Projects, 3 Projects...

Hi Folks,
stupid question here out of curiosity:

Do you guys use 1 project file only for a whole album or several?
I mean, in rock you usually used a different DAW project file for every song. When I do on-location recording of classical music, I use just one. For concerts, for example, you don't really need more, but some records can get a bit more difficult than that.

I guess I'm not being very clear. My point is, I am constantly changing the general sound a little bit during the editing and mixdown (different EQ on the reverb, change some volumes...). So if I use just one file then I'm changing everything at the same time, but it's more unconfortable to deal with a 3 hour session than a 10 minutes session.

Anyway, if any of this makes any sense at all, I'd like to hear what you guys think.

Cheers and sorry for my bad explanation...

We normally create a different project file for each tune selection.

We generally make 1 consolidated session file as I feel it is more natural for a live performance to sound like one consistent recording.

i used to do individual files for each song, but now i tend to use one file for an entire CD project so settings for eq, reverb, delay, etc are global and dont have to be reproduced on every individual song. just makes things a bit easier in the long run.

We start off with a global settings file, but create an individual file for each tune since we want to be able to adjust and treat each song/tune one by one.

Thanks for the replies!

Just finished a barroque recording. Clave, Viola da Gamba and Violin. The smoothest session ever!! Isn't it nice when things just work?
