Talking No more ATI/Paragon?

Looks like the ATI name is gone...and so are the Paragons

Audio Toys, Inc.

Anyone care to comment on this statement in that ATI link:
Paragon P40's and second-generation Paragon II's dominated the live-touring scene for many years, until the eventual development of reliable and road-capable digital consoles became accepted for use and replacement.

I remember when ATI bought API back in '99 - many were wondering what was going to happen to API and their products.

Fast forward almost a decade - API is solidly back on track and has eclipsed ATI!

I wonder how (and if) this is going to affect support for existing ATI products (8MX2/Paragon/etc.)?

The 8mx2 is still listed as a product under the new API organized website.

However, I guess the Paragon consoles are discontinued since they are not listed under the API organized website.

Have "road-capable digital consoles" really replaced analog mixing for FOH and monitor?

I still see mostly analog desks on gigs, but they weren't purchased in the last twelve months. There's no doubt that people considering buying new live desks at every level are at least considering digital... whether its an LS9 or a Digico. It's bound to put the squeeze on sales of new analog desks.

Jimbo,

Thanks for the heads up!

I'm happy to see that they decided to continue manufacturing the 8MX2 under the API banner...

Man, I wish they still manufactured the Pro6; that is (was) an awesome rack mounted channel strip.

I do not own enough of them!!!!!

Does this mean my old Paragon I is now considered vintage, and has tripled in value?

(DUCKS)

Me too. I guess that either: 1. that was a solid seller, or 2. they still have a bunch in the warehouse they need to sell

Their website says: Parts of the technology and expertise that we refined at ATI continue to be incorporated in API products as we move ahead in applying what we have learned thus far, to the excellence of the API brand.

I know that the "Thrust" capability of the API 2500 Stereo Compressor came from the Paragon console.

Anybody know of any other capabilities that have gone into API components?

Man, the ATI pres sound great.
Their EQ and filters also work extremely well.
It's a crying shame that the Pro6 or maybe another version of the Paragon P40 console strip is not incorporated in the new API branding.

Steve - why did you choose True Systems over ATI pre's?

I didn't choose one over the other.

I own and use both preamplifiers which come from an arsenal of preamp flavors.

Ahhhh...Ok...How do you decide which one to use?
Is there any type of music/intstrument/mic you find works better with the ATI? I am just curious having bought 3 of the ATI 8MX2's.
Thanks.

It's simple...

ATI preamps sound great on anything and with any mic.
YMMV, but the price of fuel these days is outrageous, so you must be on point.

Exclamation ATI P40 for sale!!

Anyone know anybody that wants one. I work at Wright State University in Dayton, OH. We bought this console back in '96. Great console, we just don't use it anymore.

Contact me if at all interested! I'd like to make some more room in storage!!

Chris the problem with the P40 is that it's not a PII.
The parts for the P40 are extremely hard to find and not available from API.

...And, this is why they do not make the Pro6 any longer since it was based on the original Paragon and parts are long gone.
