My plans for next live recording: 1) Record the music only, no vocals, direct to CD burnner. 3) X-fer your live sterio CD L & R tracks (music w/o vocals) onto your DA multi track recorder (computer or stand alone) 4) Record vocals along side your newly created "Karaoke" CD (record that perfect vocal track). logic behind the above method? Some groups sound really laim in practice and in the studio. The same group at a live gig has a great deal more energy and/or that little spark of something special. Live vocals are allways of less performance quality as compared to studio recorded vocals. Great mics and that great vocal take are of great importance as well. Skeptics should do an A/B between their favorite CD/live DVD recordings and see if they don't share the same opinion. The group I'm working with has all direct instruments and no problem of vocal bleed over (drummer uses MIDI pads). I can't think of a better way to produce/record this group.
