Hello, Just curious what I can get for this mobile rig ( per day ) in the Houston Area. I just put this system together and would like to start renting it out. I would charge separate cost for engineer. Macbook Pro 2.5ghz Racked 150gb FW HD M-Audio Firepro Lightbridge (Software) Logic 8 Pro Tools 7.4 (M-powered) Sonar 6 (Conversion) Apogee AD16X (pre's) Shadow Hills GAMA 8 Buzz MA2.2 Martech MSS10 Have various mics etc. LD's and dynamics. (Do I rent these separate?) I have all of this rigged up in two rack cases. How much per day would you guys charge for this setup? I don't have a clue where to start??? Thanks! |

One way to find out what your services might be worth would be to compare the prices of other businesses offering similar services and look at what they charge. That will at least give you a rough idea of what could be expected.

Yes, mics are separate fee, as well as a splitter system. Sometimes both are needed, but sometimes only one or the other (or neither) will be required. Also, you may consider adding an analog line level interface such as the MOTU 26I/O for those who want to take direct outs from the PA console. Then add the appropriate cabling (TRS-TRS for direct outs, TRS-TRS with tip and ring shorted for patching in at the insert point, and some Y cables).

While I don't know what the rates would be in your area, I respectfully submit that I don't see a backup recorder (or 2) in your rig. Perhaps you left it out but if there isn't one get one (or 3 ) right away before you take paying professional gigs. Some of the best recording business advice anyone gave me is 'never miss a take'. I guarantee that sooner or later you will mess up a live recording without backup. Its amazing how quickly word could get around.... (I'm happy to say I haven't managed to mess one up yet but I still lose sleep trying to make sure I don't ever)-Silas
