Question In ear monitors?

Hello,

I play in a band and would like to use in ear monitors to hear my vocals better.

I would be most grateful if anyone could suggest some cost effective solutions.

Thanks

Ed

Have had a chance to check out the IEM tags?

There's a whole bunch of threads about the subject.

Cost effective? Not really. Invest in a good set and custom molds. I got a cheap pair and added a custom mold sleeve. So now I have a $250 pair of silicone molds on a $100 pair of monitors and want to upgrade to the higher quality IEM's. You HAVE to have the custom molds, night and day difference. If you can't afford the investment now (usually at least $700) save up, don't waste money by buying twice (like me).

I just switched my discontinued FutureSonics EM3's to the new Atrios but have not heard them yet (just got them today). They gave me a 50% discount for making the exchange and were a pleasure to talk to on the phone. A band I work with uses Ultimate Ears and they have been very happy with them. A lot of major artists use Sensaphonics (including Dave Matthews) and Westone is a reputable brand as well. Unfortunately there is really no way to demo IEM's so I guess you just have to choose one and go all in.

I second sensaphonics. If you're anywhere near Chicago they can demo them for you.
