Talking A2D for location recording

Wanted to upgrade the audio path from an MBox2 Pro. Thought of buying a DAV BG1U. Then found out that the MBox has an additional S\PDIF in so started looking for a combined mic-pre with DA (3 boxes in a row is a bit much ...) Somehow I ran into an A2D but since it arrived damaged I can still recall.

Now the question is, what other options around 1600 USD are there.
Is it workable on location to have a thread of 3 boxes to have 4 channels (for instance DAV, ADI2 into Mbox Pro) Or will the A2D be fine both for 'as real as it gets' as well as saturated pop singing.

Main purpose is V\O, acoustic and classical music, with here and there a pop track.

(I spent month puzzling, looked into a Apogee Pre-DA but this API came at a good point in an easy way.)

I have a Dav BG1U feeding an ADI2 via spdif into a 002R and am quite happy with the results. To quantify though, anything would have been a step up from using the 002R's AD/DA converters, so in one step I had better signal in to disk and out to my Focal monitors, and maybe a better clock source. Good luck with your research, Denis House

I use the API for classical work quite a bit... Sounds great.

I will say one thing- it lacks the front to back imaging that you get with something like the DAV preamps. What is directly in front will sound big and beautiful. What is further back will sound a touch muffled. (ie. if you were recording a violin and piano, the violin will sound superb, but the piano will sound more distant or muffled than with the DAV).
