Talking NYC area folks-My big band @ Birdland Sundays

Hi gang, if any of you "slutz" are in NYC on Sundays, my 17-piece big band will be there 6pm-8pm. Every Sunday from March 16, 2008 'till whenever.

I want to make a "Live at Birdland" recording soon. Anyway, if any of you want to come down there, send me an email or IM and I'll put you on the guestlist.

-Andy

Well, here we go again. My big band will be at Birdland this Sunday the 23rd of March. Last week I met a new "Gearslut" at Birdland. I hope to see more of you cats this Sunday.

I've got to figure out a mobile recording rig that could be set up and broken down quickly. I'd like to record the band every week, but schlepping gear is a drag!

I'm gonna have a look at the Birdland soundboard this week. If there are direct outs, I can plug stuff into my DA98.

And if there are not, consider asking the FOH guy how he feels about using a patch bay for the inserts. Then you take build the patch bay, giving yourself an output for the recorder.

What time do you head out for this gig tomorrow?
I'll try to call you before you leave.
I could not get to you yesterday and I'm sorry about that.

Too much work. I'll just put up a stereo pair to capture the entire band and put spot mics in piano, guitar, bass and trumpets (when they play solos or use mutes). I'll have to find a way to split off the singer's mic.

If I don't want to schlepp mics, it will be SM58's all around.
