Question homework - building a small workspace

I'd like to set-up a small working space in my home.
The home studio would be used for "homework" (preparation, editing, composing, arranging and perhaps some voice-over recording). I want the possibility to (dis)connect my rack gear easily and be able to transport it in small portions (2-4 spaces).
Before I start inventing the wheel again, does anyone has smart and practical ideas? Tips and tricks?

If you want a decent-sounding room for minimum cash, here's an idea:

Google someone in your area/country that sells barriermat/sheet (mineral-loaded rubber/comes on a roll, few meters long, about 120cm wide). This is rubber, but VERY heavy.

Buy some cheap foam pads.

Cut strips of the barriermat, about two foampads wide (=probably means cut in half, lenghtwise) glue the foampads onto the front. Hang them like VERY HEAVY pictures across the corners of your room, floor to ceiling-ish. You can just fix a piece of 2x2 wood on the top.

= foam HF/barriermat/LF.....controlled sound across full range + easy portability.

They also work great as portable full range gobo's hanging off mic stands, should you want to location record. About 6 of these turn your average woodenfloored livingroom into acoustic guitar recording heaven in 10 minutes........

Cheap and superbly useful!
