Yes bishopthomas, it has a pushbutton switch which has two functions:
  • When fully pressed it switches the light on/off.
  • When the same button is pressed half, it switches to a higher intensity. When you release the switch the light will be in the next mode. So with several slight pushes it goes from Low -> Medium -> High -> SOS -> again Low -> etc.
When you tighten the head of the torch by turning it, the light goes into 'Turbo' mode and with the switch you can select between Max -> Strobe.
The Low mode gives me enough light 98% of the times I use the torch. In Max mode ehhhm you can also use it as a follow-spot replacement and surprise the lightcrew.

In the pack I found a wrist lanyard (prevents losing) and a nice belt sheath. See pictures below for details.

I prefer the Fenix above the headlights that Jim is using, because it fits in my pocket and is small enough to always carry it with me.

Check out this review which also includes a (impressive) battery usage diagram.

one thing not to pack

And in case you happen to have more luggage space:
vacuum bottle
monofilament
various clamps
peroxide or isopropyl alcohol
ziploc bags - various sizes

In addition to "gear"

Whether it's a recording or live sound gig, I always have a bag with the following:

Sharpie(s)

Gaffer's tape

LED flashlight (preferable NOT round)

A few Band-aids

A bottle of water

Nail clippers

Knife or Razor blade

Work gloves

Ear plugs
