Thread Starter | Mixing for a live gig?
Hi, I am putting together some backing tracks: mainly some propellerheads Reason mixes of synths and percussion. Some of this stuff is quite heavy: the sound picture is very full, and I worry about the finalizing when its performed live. Whilst I think the mixes work at room level (Dynaudio Bm6a monitors) they dont seme to translate well at higher volumes: it gets very harsh quick, and I worry about the high frequencies.. I imagine at 110dB some of this stuff is going to be earsplittingly shrill.. I was thinking of getting a small PA: say 2 x 15" fullrange actives, and trying to mix through those: basically to try and achieve a balance in the soundpicture at high volume. Does anyone else do this? Should I be focussing on a good EQ instead and try to fix it in the live mix? Can anyone share their experiences using stuff they produced in studio live? thanks! Mike.
