Talking Tabla, Sitar, Harmonium & voice

As mentioned in some other threads I had a 'classical Indian' location recording last week and was excited to try out my Model A microphones on this kind of source.

The instruments involved were sitar, tabla, harmonium, guitar & voice.

The room in question was what I would describe as a short-to-medium reverberant hall with a thick concrete roof, solid wood floor & wood panelled ceiling.

I only had time to make some very brief tests on the instruments individually so I just recorded them with the stereo pair at a distance.

The microphones were positioned in a parallel pair some 1-2' apart, which I have been experimenting with recently.

For the ensemble clip the pair was some 3 metres away from the central vocal/harmonium with the tabla/guitar either side in a straight line. For the tabla/sitar clips the pair was around 2 metres away.

Anyway, here are the clips. There is a choice of 24/96, 16/44 and mp3.

Tabla - 24/96 16/44 mp3

Sitar - 24/96 16/44 mp3

Ensemble - 24/96 16/44 mp3

Andy

PS - I'll attach the 16/44 clips below in case my server gets too busy
