The Oades are cool, but the problem with their mods is that A: they won't tell anyone what they are doing or how, B: they will only mod NEW equipment that you buy from them so C: unless you can find someone who has one that you can try out you have take their word for it that the mods make it better. I thought very long and hard about going for one of their FR2 mods a few years ago. I listened to their demo recordings--mostly taper stuff from concerts, and could hear a difference in the files. But was the file done with their mod better? With that sound material I couldn't say. And I was never able to find anyone nearby with one of the mods so I could hear it for myself. So I didn't do it.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same. I can't find any reviews on them and thats alot of cash to drop on something you haven't heard.

I have the Edirol R-09 and its convenient and good quality, but I am wondering if its worth it to upgrade to the Sony PCM D50 or the Edirol R-09HR. Has anyone compared them? The Sony seems a lot bigger and heavier for one thing but if it sounds tons better than maybe its worth it?
