Do you mean the one in between the speakers? That's a Roland M480 line mixer.

| Hey Graham, Yeah that's a stock Road Ready G5 case. So far so good. Sturdy, with a pull out monitor tray, storage for keyboard, mouse and some cables. My only complaint is that because it's designed to be pulled, it only has a handle on one side, which makes it very hard for me to lift it by myself.Your case looks amazing, I hope it was worth all the trouble you went through to get it. -Gordon

Not exactly high end by the standards on here but it makes money and the native PT thing cuts out the hassle of transfer to PT

Don't point that KSM44 at me unless you intend to use it!

It's really about the "ear" not the gear. IMHO, proper mic placement and good levels are more important than the type of gear you use and (as you already know) I'm a total Gearslut.

Hi Steve, Tomorrow there is stuff arriving so I can stuff my 19" rack, so pictures will follow soon. Actually it's nice to see how people have setup their mobile rigs, there are quit a few which I really like for example the Sonosax with the Schoeps mic because it's is very portable i.e. it just fits into your pocket. But also liked these neat 19" racks. Look forward to see more pictures. Gaston |

![]() Like you, I'm really enjoying this thread! It's pretty cool to see how folks package their rigs. There have been some really clever ideas shown here. Much food for thought!

What an interesting and diverse collection of equipment everyone is posting. It's fun and interesting to see everyone's different setups. Here's me recording Ravel's Violin and Cello Duo at First Lutheran Church in Seattle On top: Power Supply for a Brauner Valvet, and a BLUE Robbie Micpre Two Channel Rig: LavryBlue A/D/A and Micpre, Shunyata Hydra-6, Foxtex CR-500

Well, since not everybody has a truck full of goodies I do not feel too bad posting my gear. I have the Schoeps CMC64 and the DPA 3506 plus an SD 722 and a Mackie 1402 for mixing. I am still trying to grow "the ear" and pack my mic placement manual with me. I just did a classical recording of a local chorale group and record a lot of the local bands and sometimes go up to Portland, OR, to record there. Still 100% amateur but I think that will soon be shattered. So, a year doing pro bono work and now a small paycheck. I do not think this will ever be any more than a way to pay for the gear. But I am having some real fun, hearing some good music and learning all I can. This board is a gem for solid information and guidance. I have some pro work in the pipeline with a local bluegrass band that will be billed out at an area standard rate. OK, gear photo:

I took some updated shots of my rig just today (as I promised Steve I would). I was recording a classically trained tenor performing a folk concert, a project I talked about in an earlier thread. There's an HD24XR (EC2 upgrade) on top of the Mackie 1604 (the 1604 is used for monitoring only and for a mix on the fly send to the MLink and HHB BurnIt for a safety copy). The pres are an AEA TRP, EW Lab 102, ADL 600 and Onyx 800R. Mics in the pic are a Shure KSM9, Royer SF12 and a pair of Audix SCX25.

I've been holding off on posting pictures of my rig because I've been waiting on this case. It's a workbox from EWI; they finally came out with a version where the lid converts to a table top. I have loved the EWI workbox since I first saw one, but I really wanted something like what they just came out with. Either a mixer or a laptop will occupy the table on gigs; at home it has quickly become my cable making station. The table is shorter than I thought it would be, making the speakers too close together for my liking. I'll keep it set up like this for now at home to save space, but on a gig I'll either put the preamps/recorder rack somewhere else or I'll just space the right speaker out further. Steve has a great idea that I would love to implement eventually, but I'll need another workbox and set of the mounting hardware (think symmetry). Anybody have a source for foam? I plan on foaming the bottom three drawers where all the mics live. |

Here's my new state of the art rig. ![]() From left to right, Nagra V recording line in (44/24) from the next little red box, which is a custom built minimalist line mixer with two cute little VU's on it and nothing else, no gain, no pans, just L/C/R mixing. This is fed from one side of the splits from the mic amps (far right), the other split goes to the TC SK48 (bottom RU) which feeds the laptop recording multitrack in 96/24. |
