Rank: Fresh out of recording school

I've put together a little portable rig cause I don't have a room. Turns out it's pretty fun bouncing around with my studio on my back.
Gear:
A&H MW 16:2
RNP x2
RNC x2
Alesis HD24
all wrapped up in a silly SKB gigrig
various cheesy mics and other paraphernalia

Everything moves around in the back of my Volvo. Classy!

Cool forum, I wish it was more active!

Yeah, the casters came with my gigrig (it's the big one), it would be impossible to deal with otherwise. I edit with PTLE just cause it's cheap and I'm pretty comfortable with it. Right out of the box the HD24 interfaces with a cat5 cable. Supposedly it's super slow and glitchy. When I bought mine they were offering their firewire interface for free with the purchase so I have that and it works well. How are you patching everything? Routing has been a nightmare for me. I'm just now getting ready to wire a patchbay.

checking in

I've been lurking for a couple of weeks and wanted to introduce myself.

I'm located in Knoxville, TN. I started live recording with a pair of blackface ADAT's while I was FOH for a band in 1999. We did a live album and it came out on a national label. With the next band I toured with we did the same thing except we used a Midas Venice and an Alesis HD24. 2 of those tracks are going to be on a "rarities" disc early next year. I've done mainly studio stuff and live sound but I really enjoy doing live recording. Currently, I do post production audio for several cable networks.

I'm toying with the idea of setting up a rig and getting some camera people together and start doing DVD's.

Anyway....hello all. Great forum!

thats exactly what i try to do next year

Sorry it took me so long to join in on roll call, Steve-

Name: Jim van Bergen, aka JvB

Rank #1: Project Manager at PRG Audio (formerly ProMix) current 'day job' that allows me some life with my family and requires me to mix shows of large sizes. Last seven days include Disney/Buena Vista live presentation of 5.1 mixes, Chronicles of Narnia and Pirates of the Carribean 2: Dead Man's Chest; PRG A1 for Donna Summer live at NJ PAC /Newark; PRG A1 for New Haven Symphony Orchestra.

Rank #2: Freelance A1/recordist, AudioArt Sound since 1986. Last 3 gigs/last 3 weeks: CBS Broadway Under the Stars (48 tracks on qa Jim Flynn ProTools HD3, mixed on Neve Libre Live); Savion Glover and "The Others" (32 tracks on Mackie HDR 24/96 to PT mixed on Midas Heritage 3000), Spoleto Festival Concert of Rachmaninov 3 Dm,Opus 30 w/ Andrew Van Outen, Pianist, mixed from DPA 4041s into Earthworks 1024 mic pres to 5.1 thru Trident S100 to Masterlink at 24bit /96k and PT HD at 24bit/96k 5.1 stems.

Rank#3: Former parner, Audio Architects Mobile Recording, 1999-2001. (We were the small fish in a pond of great big fish like Steve, Kooster, Hewitt, and Randy.) Two consecutive seasons of HBO's REVERB; three dozen live concert for DVD recordings, five live albums. Countless small MTV and corporate gigs. Our business model was doing great from our first two years but tanked after 9/11 when HBO & MTV cancelled major projects with us so my partner and I closed the biz down and sold the truck.

Specialty: Have somehow managed to maintain solid feet and clients in the TV, film, opera, Broadway, and classical music worlds, doing many live broadcast events and a few live CD's/DVD's each year.

Thought for the day: If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right!

*Steve is one of the most positive cats on this earth with simply amazing Karma!* Thanks for hosting this forum and being the wonderful resource you are!
Peace-

JvB

Hey Paulie, How's it hanging!

It great to see you here.

Yep, I hear you loud and clear -- thanks a lot bud!

Hey, do you have any pictures of that "all in one" portable remote recording case you designed and used. I'm sure the folks on this forum would love to see a picture of it.

Don't be shy, show off some of your audio toys too my man.

All the best -- keep up the good work!
