Hey guys I thought you might enjoy this one. On the odd occasions when I venture outside the warm, cozy confines of Gearslutz and the Remote Possibilities forum, I'm reminded how things function in the rest of the online world. I've been trying to solve a strange and rather irritating phenomenon that can crop up when burning Audio CDs on the Mac, and found a discussion on another "general computer help" forum where a couple of other Mac users had run into precisely the same issue. "Yee ha," I'm thinking, "It's not just me." I read thru, and found there was a moderator contributing advice on the subject. Most of which was factually incorrect and addressing the wrong problem in any case. But whatever. So I hopped in to encourage the others that, although I didn't have a solution, I was at least having the same problems, and that they weren't crazy. Got a response or two thanking me, and we started making progress. At which point the moderator jumps back in and starts screaming in big red shouty text (I'm quoting exactly and replicating his text formatting, because even with my lack of tact, I don't think I could manage to be this rude if I tried). Quote:
I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before - and I'm a member of the Nuendo forum! Maybe I've just led a sheltered life...It's served to remind me just how much I appreciate the easy-going, friendly vibe of Steve Remote's forum. Long may it continue that way, and I'm re-committing myself here and now to try and be a polite and helpful person at all times, in an effort to bring some balance to the world! Thanks everyone, and especially Steve Remote of course. | |

I'll add to the emotion this is probably 1 of the most useful forums on the net for audio recording. Thanks all who keep it going.

Jeez, LX3. I can't believe we have to say this again. Steve Remote runs a great board with respect, intelligence, and integrity. So happy to be able to be a part of it, along with all you Remotesters. The positive vibe is as valued here as the knowledge base, as both seem to be rare elsewhere. Steve, you're the man! JvB |

Thanks so much folks, but I could not do it without all the excellent contributors like yourselves! ...There is one screwy thing about all this positive vibe stuff. I don't think I will ever get the chance to use the "Pissing Monkey" or the "Finger" icons from the Smilie List. Viva la Remotesters!

Ditto! Great board. Through all of the advice that I've learned since joining, my recordings have improved dramatically, and everybody has such a great vibe. |
