well the poll is over now kind of , since you know the mics its not objective any more ....

Hey Steve which one did you like the best ?

I almost always use U 87 ai and i like the sound of it very much , tlm 193 is also fine on the bass but in the mix it can be little too dark .

All of this mics are really nice sounding on almost anything and if you find the right spot ( which is in my opinion most important for the sound ,even more than pre amp or the mic ) you can get great sounding tracks ....

The proxy eff. that all this mics produce in close recording situations can be really big problem on the double bass tracks , then u have to eq it fish the freq. etc and u never now if its going to be perfect . So i think the 2# sample of the bass recorded with gefell pm 750 is for some situations the best choice . It has less bottom than the other mics but its more than enough for the whole mix in my opinion and its clear in the 1k -5k range .
All the other samples here need hi pass filter and some notch filtering and some boost at 2k in the mix....
What do you think ?
