Question DPA 4006 Users

Does anyone know the cost of the upgrade of a 4006 to a 4006-TL? I am trying to decide if it will be cost effective to purchase a couple of used 4006 mics and upgrade them to the TL, or if it would just be better to a new TL to match my stereo pairs.

Thanks, Thom

If you buy used 4006's and send them in you may get dinged with other charges as they will bring the mics up to spec. Write the or call them to find out. I have the 4006TL's and like 'em a lot. With the three extra grids and the three APE's you are ready for a lot of different venues. I am very pleased.

Cheers

Yes, I am a big fan of my TLs. I use them as my main pair on most jobs. I am starting to use the Decca Tree on more jobs and would like to have a third. I found a good deal on a third, but I am pricing to find out if I would be better off with a new one.

Can you not also use the TL's as flankers with ORTF or a Williams' inspired card setup in the middle?? Just to tide you over if nothing else?

I did an ORTF w/the DPAs spead wide on my last job, when a rental fell through. The sound was okay, but that may have been my fault. I was not real happy with my placement. I will definitely try again, as it may be a bit before the new mic/mics arrive.

Thanks for the advice.

Hi
Last May I've paid ca. 800 Euros (for 2 mics). The upgrade is worth.
