I understand where you're coming from.

I like all sorts of music styles as long as it's good.

Hey, at least we didn't need to autotune or replace any of the tracks like so many other artists out there.

These guys are the real deal. They can play their instruments and sing the words without technical help from us. In my book that's a big plus especially when it's a live performance recording.

Yep, you are right!

Hey, I have a crazy question for you...

If you were doin' it up there, makin' that serious cash smack dab in the middle of the lime light would you mind if you weren't so perfectly in tune?

Before you answer my question keep in mind that your fan base was larger that you could imagine, your social life would be perfectly on point and you had everything you wanted. I'm not talkin' what you need I'm talkin' what you want including that fact that all your checks will always clear because your fans love you dearly.

...Would you mind if you were not perfectly in tune most of the time?

I guess I will chime in...
I think there is a fine line separating awful from acceptable. I think playing live you have to expect some mistakes and I wouldn't care if there were a couple of minor things. I think it is human nature to not be perfect.
I think what makes live music great is that sort of unpredictability...and a couple mistakes here and there add to that human element.
If I was releasing the live show I would have to see how bad it bothered me before I fixed it.

I am not sure how much of the performance was fixed afterward (if at all) but if it is all original playing I thought the performace was pretty darn good

I don't how many more of these type of pop/punk bands can continue to come out because they are all sounding the same to my ears.

Sonically I thought the mix sounded great so hats off to Richard and Steve

Good job on the kick and snare , both sounded great especially for all orginal sounds.

CHEERS!!

I know this wasn't directed at me but as a musicna I am unltra picky SOB

ESPECIALLY about live performances

I expect and aim for excellance at every gig I play and I have no idea if that would change if my fan base was larger but I can't imagine why.

With that being said I play with some guys who don't care as much - they focus more on the energy, the vibe etc... and once again I can't imagine that changing with a larger audience

It's interesting that you asked this question, were you just generally interested in the answer or were you testing a preconceived hypothesis.

I agree the sound is good and the band is giving a good performance but their songs are so damn comercial... not a touch of originality. Anyway, congrats for your work.

From what I gathered from my conversations with Richard and what I heard the night I captured their live performance all the sounds were original and nothing was fixed.

With that said, only Rich can confirm this since I was not at the mix session.

Thanks for posting that video! I thought the mix and the recording was done very well. Whether you like the style or not - Simple Plan shows that they are legit musicians and they put on a good show. I have heard their singles before, but I've always questioned how many of these pop radio bands can actually perform live and now there's no doubt in my mind - Simple Plan is the real deal. The tone was great and everything fit in place and sounded in tune (the singers were spot on and you gotta love the stage presence)- it was an enjoyable 30 minutes!
