steve, grounding the world as we know it ...

well on we go with the grounding nightmare ... company does not want to spend money to fix but they want it fixed ...

we have now found that we may have to iso ground all the edison outlets in the studio and the edison and twistlock connectors on the stage ...

remember i am not an electrician but i am learning and no i am not doing any wiring without hiring an electrician as it has to be to code and safe for pregnant women and babies of all ages (ie: VP's and the like) ...

our monitor amp rack has grounds tied to chassis ... we also found that grounds are tied to the conduit ...

this is a club with 3 floors and lots of beer coolers and blenders and all ...

on we go ........

John,

Have you transformer isolated the tech power yet? Float the tech power's neutral. Stay away from the building's neutral hash.

You may not need to use isolated duplex outlets if your system is floating and they're not coupled to the building, chassis, etc.

Don't tie into the same neutral the elevator, beer coolers, blenders and such are using.

Also consider installing audio and video isolation transformers on all inputs and outputs from the CRM. You have transformers for the mic input splits, why not everything else? Keep it clean!

All the best.

I will look into this this week ..... what i know is that the FOH and Monitor 5 wire that goes to stage are on an ISO transformer ... the studio is not on that side of the transformer but i have powered the studio from stage power and it makes no difference ...

when you say they are not coupled to the building make i ask if you are speaking about the grounds in the outlets themselves, racked gear that touches the chassis or are you taking about floating the power at the disconnect ?

i will have to ask electrician if the ISO transformer is tied to same neutral ...

yes, i agree ... for our last Fox show we did transformer ISO everything in and out of CRM but all signals were line level and line level signals are the only signals that are clean in and out of studio, once we get into mic level we are pulling all the crap up out of the dirt ...

in the end the house has to be cleaned up before we can have the studio be clean ... we are fighting an uphill corporate battle and hope to have it resolved this week as i have a semi-major act to record on friday ... looking forward to this as i am a fan of this man ...

got the pro tools rig in so we will be doing dual PT and DA98HR recording and using Digidelivery to send to mix room ...

thank you again for your interest ... the boys from Design FX have been another source (they are friends as well as we work together) of help ...

steve,

update ... seems there was a set of 5 wire that has some issues so we moved over to the visiting act set of 5 wire and cleaned up around 60% of house issues ...

looks like a test on friday with some jensen transformers from Design FX and we could have a workable solution ...

now if i could just get the ant problem at my house under control ... it is hot and they want to come inside for awhile ...

peace and thanks for all your help and for listening ...

peace john
