Question Making de Mults !

I have a simple recording to make soon.

2 audience mics through 2 pre's, plus a stereo FOH desk output, totalling
4 tracks to an HD24.

2 track back up of the FOH only (no audience mics) to a Fostex FR2LE (unbalanced line ins)

The FOH desk ouput will be balanced and the inputs to the HD24
are balanced, the Fostex line ins are unbalanced.

Will this be detrimental to the level going into the TS connector on the FR2LE from a TRS split, my guess is it will be getting just + and ground so it will be 6dB down compared to the HD 24 fully balanced signal, does this sound correct.

Sadly this is a small issue with the FR2LE (unbalanced line ins suck !)

cheers

Also with one set of inputs (FR2LE) being unbalanced will it
mess up the balancing of the other signal, the negative(cold) of the balanced signal
will be seeing a different impedance load than the positive?

(Cause the positive is connected to both inputs and the cold isn't)

cheers

You're correct that the impedance on the (+) side will be different than on the (-). If you were running long cables, with concern about noise pickup, that would be an issue. If you're going to have short cables, with everything on the same desk and powered from the same outlet strip, don't worry. Just keep all digital and video cables well away from your audio cables and you'll be fine.
