| Why is there a forum for "Remote Possibilities in Acoustic Music & Location Recording" ? Wouldn't classical music recording and location recording warrant their own forums? (edit) removed unnecessary elaboration. |

| Except when you're a "location" guy, you do it all, no separate classes of citizenship, it's all a "concert," whatever the instrumentation and/or color of hair, thinning hair, or dreadlocks.

| Many classical recordings are done on location. With that said, we also talk about all styles of music and all forums of location production which are captured on location via portable rigs or mobile units. We are NOT going to split up these topics... After more than five years online this forum is finally moving along quite nicely and running extremely smooth. I do not want to change anything at this time. It is what it is and everything is everything! Enjoy it if you can. Many folks do!

| I would venture to say that the vast majority of classical recordings are done on location. Classical music is nothing without a room... That being said, there are a bunch of us out there that do a wide variety of work on location. (myself included). I've done work on film sets, I regularly do voiceover recording on location, I even record rock occasionally and I've done quite a bit of Blues recording (worked for years at the Long Beach Blues Festival which is one of the largest blues festivals in the west). I think that the forum is working beautifully as it is right now. Heck, I'm a mod of an acoustic music forum on another board, but I spend more time here because there is more of substance happening right here than anyplace else on the net. I second Steve's feeling of not messing with a good thing. --Ben |

| My apologies. Certainly don't mean to mess with what works. (especially being a noob.) I just didn't get the connection between location recording and classical music. Live and learn. ![]() |

| Shhhhh! Don't ruin a great thing! It's about EIGHT forums combined... but, lucky us, we have some of the best minds in several parts of the industry hanging out. So, let's enjoy the intimacy of it, and the best suggestion I have is to simply figure out what threads apply to you, and ignore the ones that don't. Some threads are better left alone anyway. I think Steve Remote does a great job keeping this place running, witha totally positive vibe and very little BS. ![]() JvB |
