Post long microphone bar available

Hi!

Students in sound engineering of the Zurich University of the Arts developped a long microphone bar (80cm) to mount up to 4 mics. The position of the holders is continuosly variable. So far, such a bar was available for a lot of money from some well-known mic-brands only.

Our university is now selling a couple of bars at cost price. This is Euro 100.00 or 150.00$.

For orders or additional information visit our website: www.stereoschiene.ch or write an e-mail to: info@soundworx.ch

All the best,
Ueli

sent you an e-mail from your site. It looks as if there are four mic holders. I just wanted to be sure.

Here is a Babelfish translation of the German web page:

Stereoschiene - microphone bar

Not perfect but you can get the idea. By the way - Canada is in the drop-down list, they just don't have the countries completely in alphabetical order.

Exclamation english version

Hi!

I'm surprised that this bar produced so much interest...

I try to describe the most important things in english, because the website is in german only.

- the microphone bar is a swiss product. That's saying a lot...
- the mic bar comes with 4 (3/8 inch) locking screws.
- there are neither mic holders nor microphones included. Its only the bar with 4 screws. Sorry for any misunderstanding!
- the length is 80cm
- the weight 150g
- its made of very solid aluminium, anodized black.
- on one side there is a laser-engraved ruler.
- additional images: Stereoschiene - Photos

Costs: 150 US$
Postage: 35 US$ (to USA and Canada), other destination please ask!

If you order multiple bars, you pay postage only once.

Payment method: by bank transfer only. (we have an acount in switzerland and germany)

Please order directly by mail. The ordering-platform on the website is in german only and the postage to USA/Canada will not be calculated correctly.

Using PayPal, will the amounts shown be calculated correctly (converted to $US)?

Any chance of developing a Decca tree system? I guess it would essentially be a 2 meter bar attached in the middle to a 1 meter bar at its end. This looks great. Would this be strong enough to hold three mics? I would go for one if it was reasonably priced.

To clarify the thing with the costs:

Continental Europe (
€)
microphone bar: €
100.00
shipping: € 20.00
PayPal fee: € 4.00

UK (
£)
microphone bar: £
70.00
shipping:
£ 17.00
PayPal fee:
£ 3.00

U.S.
($)
microphone bar: $
150.00
shipping:
$ 35.00
PayPal fee:
$ 6.00

The order form on stereoschiene.ch calculates only correct amounts inside Europe when paying i
n Euros by bank transfer. For all other orders please see the fees above. Thanks.

When ordering more then one microphone bar shipping is payed once only.

It's possible to combine multiple bars to a decca tree system. I've often combined 3 bars to get a 5.0 recording-system like the one of spl. That worked fine!

That seems pretty Klugy to me. Are these rigid enough to do this? It seems this company may want to seriously consider making a two meter bar at roughly $200.00 with some way to attach the 1 meter bar in it's middle. At $350 this would be a much more reasonable alternative to the AEA system. It is after all, just two bars put together with some mic mounts for gods sake.

Hi!

There are some pictures of how to construct a Decca Tree with this bars:

It's no problem to do this. It's quite rigid for small condensers. I didn't tested with large condensers. You need 3 bars of 80cm (2.6 foot). You get a maximal space between left and right microphone of 1.7m (5.6 foot). The center mic is 80cm in front. This construction is even solid on a normal mic stand. See the other fotos:

http://www.stereoschiene.ch/DeccaTree3.jpg

With 3 bars it's also possible to build a mount for an OCT-Surround:

Additional photos:

This works fine! I used it several times. And its very flexible.

Yes, he did his job well -
On 24th appeared two ordered DPA mics and the three bars, so that I have my Decca-Christmas-Tree complete now.

The only thing missing: I thought that in former times this old guy also payed the bills...

I ordered this mic bar Dec. 1st. I got an email Dec. 17th that it had been shipped on Dec. 6th with a tracking number for Swiss Post. The only thing I was able to learn from the tracking number was that it left Switzerland Dec. 12th. It is now Dec. 26th and I'm still waiting.
