Question Are most Direct outs on live boards TRS......

1/4 inch jacks?

Need to make up some mults for running to 2 x HD24 units, just want to make sure this is most common before I spend a good few days soldering ! Yuk

err.... can these be bought ready made, thinking about it

Yes, most are TRS (or only T-S on the cheaper boards, in which case a TRS is still the better connector).

And Yes, you can buy these assemblies pre-made, and if 24 connectors (per end) sounds scary, then you SHOULD buy them premade. No offense, just my opinion.

That will be the most common cable you will need for this use. However, if there are no direct outs available then you may be able to take signal from the insert sends (when separate balanced send/returns are available) or you might have to use the single jack insert to get your signal. If this is the case then you can either insert the TRS cable to one click or make a cable that shorts the tip and ring. This way is the most secure and would allow you to insert the connector all the way for the best connection. This is definitely a custom job, so if you're not handy with a soldering iron then you might go with another option.

One thing to keep in mind. Even if the direct out is pre eq/fader there may be a good chance that it is still post insert.
