Actually, upon further review, I think this entire thread is deserving of deletion. Dear Mr. Moderator...

Getting back to the topic at hand... I think Kelly is a great vocalist. Sure she's no operatic soprano, but she's got power, and tuning and I like her vocal style. Yea, no one's perfect. Hell most of the worlds best rock singers have abysmal voices, and I've heard more then a few concerts from some of the great voices in rock who just butchered the whole deal... It happens. I'm not sure why everyone is making a big deal about THIS concert like singing halftime at the superbowl is like the be all and end all. Maybe it's just cus I only watch the CFL....

That being said, I put forth this video clip. Kelly Clarkson, hammered, chugs some JD from the bottle, and with no warm-up and no rehersal, puts on a pretty good rock vocal performance.... Yea she missed a couple of notes... But this is still a pretty impressive performance in what I think is a 'worst case' scenario for a vocal performer. (no rehearsal, no warm up, not knowing what the song was, improv, and well.. let's face it, JD isn't exactly great for the vocal cords :-))

No it's all very upsetting and full of that R&R debauchery, profanity, drink and drugs and sex.

I think I need to see it once more just to remind myself about how upsetting and disturbing it really is.

She seems like a cool chick.

Well, yes, but it doesn't do anything more to prove she can sing. Not bad, but I have heard better at the karaoke bar.

Man, so much for trying to bring a little lightness and fun to the thread

I still personally enjoy her voice and her performances. That's good enough for me

The thing about it is...

she isn't the first and won't be the last singer to have a substandard gig. There is no one alive who hasn't done badly at something once. She is a good singer overall, though. If you don't think so, don't listen.
