Question Cabin Recording questions.

I have been think about the idea of recording at my cabin for some time. It is very large and has great 12ft ceilings. The acoustics are good for not being tuned. The problem is there is no isolation. Does anybody have advice on what to use to help isolate things like drums and vocals.

Thanks.

Isolation ideas

First off, HELL YEAH! I've been trying to do a record in a cabin up in the mountains for years now. I'm jealous.

Isolation ideas:

There is a used furniture store here in Seattle called Ducky's that sells used compress fiberglass panels (cubicle baffling) for rediculously cheap. I've purchased many over the years and find them invaluable.

What kind of music is it? How much bleed can you get away with? Are there closets? You could pack closets with blankets, pillows and such for amps, maybe a vocalist if you can get away with it. I've become a big fan of "re-animating". Taking the bass as a DI and then replaying it through an amp later and rerecording it. Depending on the guitar parts, this can also work with guitar. Careful with that one, so much about guitar playing CAN BE all about working the amp.

I don't know where your cabin is, but I have a friend that was able to record vocals outside and that came out really great. This might work for horns, too.

The possibilities are endless and I would love to see pictures when you get up there and hear about your escapades.

Freakin Cool!

The Cabin is in the Black Hills. I defiantly could record the vocals outside; its dead silent out there. Its an Inde rock band so a good amount of bleed can be had. the guitarist and the drummer like to track togeather and then everything else is done separate. I love the idea of the cubicle divider and I know a couple of places where I can get them. Thanks for the advice and I will defiantly keep you posted.
