Talking Recording violin (viola) & guitar duet

Apart from the mentioned classical guitar recording, I am also thinking about the optimal setup for a possible recording of violin&classical guitar duet. It will again happen in my mid size studio room (7x5x3,5m). I have 2 pairs of Schoeps (MK21 and MK2) and R88 available.

Thinking what would be better starting point:

1) a "spot" mic to each instrument (like MK21) and a main pair behind (either MK2 or R88)

2) or two pairs - one closer (Schoeps or R88) and one further away (Schoeps or R88)

3) or just one pair

4) R88 mid and MK2 wide outriggers

5) still some other options

I know, the best thing is to try on the spot, but now there is more time to think than in the real situation and for sure many such duets were recorded before ...And also - I will be one of the players and a sound engineer at the same time .. So thanks in advance for some hints ...

Schoeps MK21 spots. MK2's room

I would keep it simple, MK21 spots. MK2's room.
R88 a little dark for acoustic guitar in my opinion.
I am not as experienced as you , but I am always trying to keep it to a minimum.
I use MK21's all the time now. They are just magnificent!
