Restore Corrupt Audio Files from Protools?

Hi there,
A friends of mine was recording 2 tracks to his mbox and his computer locked up. We can see the audio files (BWAV) on the drive but protools will not open them. He was using PT 7.0. I have told him to upgrade to 7.3, which would help with this problem, but I am wondering if there is anything that we can do in the meantime. It seems as though the headers are corrupt. Is there any way to remove the headers from the file and rewrite them? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I don't have time to research it right now, but there IS a freeware program that can do this. Not sure if it is compatible with BWF or not... and the one I used was mac. But google around and you'll find it!

Was it SHNtool that you used? I know this will strip the headers and then I have heard that Cool Edit Pro or Wavelab with rewrite them. I would actually prefer to do this on a PC, but if there is something that is only available on a mac that is fine too. Thanks so much for the quick reply.

best,

I honestly can't remember the name of the program, it's been atleast two years.

Good luck in your search!
