Soundcard for my portable setup really necessary?

I am setting up a portable studio for writing/producing on a remote location.

I will run Logic 8 on a Macbook Pro, using only internal softsynths and plugs.

I'll use an SEUSB 2200A mic to record demo vocals and ideas (but if I need to record for real I'll sort out a real studio for the occasion).

Because I'll move around a lot I'll be working/mixing mostly in headphones.

My question. Will an external soundcard affect the quality of the playback to such extent that it would be reasonable to have just for the headphones and very occasional speaker use?

Opinions?

My main worry would be the quality going in..... Maybe you don't care about that but what if you get a magical take?

Yeah.. well there will be very little going in (cause I make mostly electronic stuff, and will have mainly that, and remix work to do while I'm away). But If I make a magical vocal demo take and wanna keep it, well... I'm, just gonna have to live with the quality then I guess. But if I am to make a serious vocal or instrument take I will sort out a studio rental for a day or so.

Since I need to keep weight an size down, I wanna avoid everything that isnt really necessary.
So I'm thinking if the quality of the out audio would really bother me in the long run if going internally it might still be worth it to bring a small sound card, what do you think?
