Here's a couple of pictures showing you the reverse situation...

I needed to install a Speck matrix mixer below the patch bay in Jethro, but the teak rack was not deep enough to house the mixer and the connector harness.

I came up with the (10/30 screw bolt) extension idea.
It has been in operation for decades.

I'm not sure if this is available to listen, but you may want to check the 'BGO and NPR websites to see if it ended up in their libraries.
