Talking Ultimate Ears UE-10 Pro

I'm surprised that there is no mention of these on GS.
They are easily the best sounding earphones I've ever heard.
Maybe it's the $900 price tag and the fact that they're custom molded (so you can't test them out first). They're extremely highly regarded on many Audiophile forums, if that means anything.
I have always depended on heaphones while composing & mixing, but never completely, kind of like a different prespective to keep in mind when I go back to monitoring. These are different. The UE-10's are better than my monitors which cost twice as much. Then again, this is just my opinion.

Cool

You can't mix with them. But they sound amazing, with great clarity and decent bass, with crisp midrange.

Great for portable audiophilia and exceptional value to vocalists monitoring their takes.

I have the Sensaphonic 2X-S. I also have DT-880 on order. These will complement each other, I like the Sensas when I mow the lawn and all I hear is the music!

Can't mix with them? I suppose that depends on what you're mixing and how much gear/space you have on hand. Sure, I wouldn't mix an album on them (but I would reference with them), but an a long plane flight back from Denmark I polished off a soundtrack i was cutting it close on and it translated amazingly.

I came very close to getting a pair of Sensaphonics, they look very comfortable. My other car is an old Toyota pickup, and when I'm forced to drive it I use my UE-10's instead of the deck/speakers. I'm sure it's illegal but it makes long drives so much better. Don't know about the other high-end IEM's, but the UE-10's are so loud that I have to use the iPod's Volume Limit (to about 60% of the max vol.) feature to keep from hurting myself.
