Hi Guys, I am thinking of taking a small holiday in Berlin. Because I value your opinions in relation to recording so highly, I thought to pick your brains about what to see, where to stay and, more importantly, where the museum of the microphone is based All opinions welcome, Cheers, |

Hi Mosrite, two things that immediately come to mind are the old East German Radio complex and the Neumann factory. The former is a must see because of all the cool studios and halls with their 50s/60s design, the latter because those guys are really nice and after they have shown you around they send you off with Neuman bags with t-shirts, ballpoints and other Neumann-logo-bearing stuff. Now that Museum I really don't know, but if you ask at Neumann's they'll tell you. That is maybe it's themselves that you were asking about. Well, you'll find out. |

A visit to the revitalized TELDEX studio is a must. Also a visit to the former East German film recording stages. As for a proper place to stay, I recommend a hotel with a Japanese bath. There you could submerge your entire body and be scrubbed by a 17 y.o. Japanese girl. I have done it. It was worth the rape of my pocket book.

Thanks guys, fantastic suggestions. I had no idea if the 'museum of the microphone' actually existed but it sounds like the Neumann factory fits the bill nicely. Any reasonably priced hotels / B+B's that anyone can vouch for? |
