I'm a house engineer and a bass player and I do not have a compressor in my rig. I try to play as evenly as possible. If the sound guy wants to add a comp then it will be that much better. I try to get them to mic instead of DI because my amp sounds great. I think the dirt from my head helps give the bass more percieved loudness. 1973 P Bass/1978 SVT/ 2 Mesa Boogie 4x10.
