so... what kind of wattage rating would one be looking at to run a medium sized p.a.? think 8-10amps, foh, and backline... completely new foray (sp?) for me here, so for a hypothetical... say a 17500 watt gasoline powered generator, pushing a 50 amp masterbreaker designed to keep an average house up and running when power is out. is something like that adequate? i'd obviously want a diesel engine, but current-wise, what do the brains out there think? if a generator is rated in wattage, how can i relate that to amperage? it's a ratio w/ voltage, correct? or way off? |

Check these thread links out... Power I trust it will be helpful for you. With that said, figuring out your wattage needs is relatively simple. Just add up all the individual watts from each and every piece of equipment you're going to use, add a few possible extra goodies then add anywhere from 25 to 50% on top of that for headroom. Each piece of gear has the wattage rating posted near the power plug or check the spec sheet in the various manuals. We need to address the difference between KVA and Watts too. Can we get a tech in here to explain it correctly the first time...? It’s pretty simple math. Let's get some dialog going here.
