If you come to record a gig and want to split mics instead of take direct outs from the P.A. desk there is a need for many more extra mic cables. i.e. Mic goes into split (Cable set 1) say 10M, then there is from the split to the stage box (Cable set2), then from the split to the recording mixers preamps via a snake.(Cable set 3) Most mic splits I have seen do not have a cable snake attached for the record feed and instead M XLR outs, thus the need for Mic cables to the preamps. Is it reasonable to expect the recording engineer to provide 2 of these sets of cables? This is hypothetical but I expect it comes up daily. Cheers |

Whoever is recording should be bringing their own cables. When we go out to record we bring our own split and all necessary cabling. I wouldn't count on anyone else to provide me with what I need.

The recording engineer is bringing the recorder, right? Why shouldn't he bring the necessary mic cables? If my rig is causing the addition of two mic cables per channel then I had better provide that cabling. I have a 52 channel snake just for the FOH split from my splitter to the PA snake. The PA company isn't going to have or be able to provide that (especially since I use MASS connectors).

Nope, that makes sense to me, just wanting to clear it up before any problems occur. Cheers |
