Approx how much disk space will I use to record 20 tracks of audio for about two and a half hours?

A lot... It depends on the resolution, 16 or 24 bit, 44 or 48k?
It's easy to calculate, two tracks in 16/44 are 150 kB/s, or about 10 MB per minute, just go from there and add 50% for 24 bit and/or 10% for 48k...

As an example, close to three hours of 14 tracks in 24/48 produced just under 20 GB.

Daniel (D Fu) is right on the money, as usual.

FWIW, I try to budget 15 MB per track for TV production multitrack machines, doing 48kHz at 24bit. If I think I am close to the danger buffer zone, I will consider doing my backup machine at 48k/16bits JUST IN CASE!!

Running out of disk space SUCKS. Especially on shows when you can't stop to change over. But if you find during rehearsals you are going to need to change drives, it's better to tell people in advance, & they can find a way to make it work.
